First off - what is a theme?
When a wedding is centered around a specific theme other than color or a pattern, it’s a theme wedding.
This is one of the questions I get asked a lot about. What should I do for my wedding theme? First off, you do not have to have a theme. Yes, you will need to pick colors, but a theme is totally optional. The other advice I give is that if you do like the idea of a theme, you can incorporate it as much or as little as you would like.
I also here from brides, how do I make my wedding different from my close friends who are getting married too. Well, what I say is just make it your own. You and your fiance are unique. Find what you both enjoy or love and DO U! There maybe things that overlap from another wedding and that is okay. This day is about the love between the two of you, so don’t get hung up on what others are doing.
One last piece of advice why picking your theme. You will want to make sure you don’t go over the top with your theme. You want to make sure you are incorporating your theme in a very simple and understated way.
You want to make sure your wedding feels authentic, so DO U!
Here are a few examples:
We had a bride and groom that loves Game of Thrones, so they got socks for the entire wedding party. This was the only way they incorporated this into their wedding, but it was fun and they have some great pictures to look back on years later.
Another bride incorporate bees and honey into their wedding. They had honey for a guest favor, had incorporated the bees into a few of the decor items.
One of our couples loved books and had a favorite book store. So we incorporated photos with the bookstore into their engagement and wedding photos. There were also splashes of the book theme in centerpieces, place cards and the cake.
Do you love the country life? We have a couple that got married on their family ranch. There was horse carriage that brought that the wedding party to the ceremony site and after the “I Do’s” the couple rode away on the horse carriage - it was adorable and made for some great photos. The guys wore cowboys hats, vests and boots.
